Transformer explosion at Vantage Data Centers injures construction worker

SAN ANTONIO - A transformer explosion late Friday night near Vantage Data Centers left a construction worker critically injured and prompted an evacuation in the surrounding area.

The incident occurred around 10:20 p.m. near Wiseman Boulevard and Luckenbach Road. According to the San Antonio Police Department, emergency responders found one construction worker at the scene suffering from critical injuries following the explosion.

The transformer was located near a gas tank, which raised immediate safety concerns. As a precautionary measure, authorities evacuated a nearby apartment complex to ensure the safety of its residents.

No further details about the construction worker’s condition or the cause of the explosion were provided. The situation remains under investigation.
