GS Global has opened an office in Houston as it looks to deepen its reach in the US energy and infrastructure markets, shifting closer to a region the company sees as central to project-based steel demand.
The new office, located in Houston’s Uptown district, is aimed at capturing demand tied to increased investment in energy, power and infrastructure. GS Global said the move will also help it react more quickly to changing market conditions, including stronger protectionism and global supply chain restructuring.
Until now, the company had handled most of its US operations through its Los Angeles office. With the Houston base, GS Global plans to seek and support steel orders for major projects while broadening its presence in the US energy value chain. The office will also look for business opportunities in chemicals, energy and shipbuilding equipment.
GS Global said it plans to work with Korean steelmakers operating in the Houston area, including Hyundai Steel and Dongkuk Steel. It also aims to build relationships with local engineering, procurement and construction companies, as well as steel fabricators, as customers.
During the second half, the company plans to focus on building a local network and strengthening its project pipeline. From 2027, it intends to expand order support and pursue new businesses, with Houston positioned as a key development hub for the southern US.
"The Houston office is a strategic investment aimed at expanding our customer base and strengthening our sales competitiveness in the US", a GS Global official said.
"We will pursue opportunities beyond project-based steel to establish a sustainable foundation for growth in North America.
