How It Works

Hire Quantity Surveyors in 3 steps

A structured process for the QS hire — where measurement rigor, valuation discipline, and final-account craft decide how much of the contract value you actually keep.

Step 01

Talk to our team

30-minute call. We align on the seat — PQS, contractor, or owner-side — contract forms in play (AIA, NEC, FIDIC, bespoke), package sizes, tools, and start date.

Step 02

Review talent

Within 2 weeks we introduce 3–5 Quantity Surveyors with sector-matched package history. References from commercial leads who reviewed their valuations and final accounts included.

Step 03

Hire with confidence

Every placement carries a replacement guarantee — contingency, contract, and direct hire alike.

Why iRecruit.co

What makes our Quantity Surveyor shortlist different

Verified on the numbers

We reference valuation accuracy, variation substantiation, and final-account outcomes with the commercial managers who signed off the work — not just tenure at recognizable firms.

Contract-form fluency

AIA and US subcontract forms, NEC3/NEC4, FIDIC, and hybrid owner forms behave differently under change and delay. We match candidates to the paper your projects actually run on.

Global QS pipeline

The US QS shortage is structural. We recruit RICS-pathway and MRICS talent from the UK, Ireland, Middle East, and APAC markets alongside US-trained candidates — including relocation-ready surveyors for data center programs.

Vetting Criteria

What we verify on every Quantity Surveyor

Measurement + takeoff rigor

Reference-verified BOQ production and quantity takeoff quality — with fluency in CostX, Bluebeam, Cubit, or equivalent measurement tools.

Valuation + payment discipline

Interim valuation accuracy, payment application review, and retention management on live packages — verified with reviewing commercial leads.

Variation + change pricing

Substantiation quality on variations and change orders — measured rates, dayworks, and star rates that survived scrutiny.

Final account craft

Reference-verified final accounts settled without escalation — and candor about the ones that went to dispute and why.

FAQ

Hiring a Quantity Surveyor

How long does it take to hire a Quantity Surveyor?

Time to shortlist is typically 2 weeks; total time to placement typically 3–5 weeks for US-based candidates. International candidates requiring visa sponsorship or relocation add lead time — we scope that honestly on the first call.

What does a Quantity Surveyor cost in 2026?

Most US Quantity Surveyor base salaries fall between $90,000 and $135,000, with data center markets and MEP-specialist surveyors commonly at $110,000–$150,000. MRICS designation and hyperscale program history push toward the top of the band — senior commercial leads price higher; see Senior Quantity Surveyor.

Do you require RICS / MRICS candidates?

Only if you do. MRICS is a strong signal of structured QS training, and many clients prefer it for PQS seats — but some of the best contractor-side surveyors in the US market came up through estimating or cost engineering. We calibrate the requirement with you, then verify capability either way.

How is a QS different from an Estimator or Cost Manager?

An Estimator prices work before award; a QS measures and values it during execution — valuations, variations, final accounts. A Cost Manager runs budgets and forecasts at project level. On many US mission-critical programs one person wears two of these hats; we staff to the actual scope.

Do you offer a placement guarantee?

Yes. Every placement carries a replacement guarantee, on every engagement model.

Can you source QS talent internationally?

Yes. The US QS market is chronically short, and we actively recruit from UK, Irish, Middle East, and APAC QS markets — screening for US contract-form adaptability and relocation readiness before you ever see a profile.
