How It Works

Hire Project Directors in 3 steps

A structured process for the hire that owns the whole delivery outcome — where the wrong Project Director loses the client relationship, the margin, and the schedule in the same quarter.

Step 01

Talk to our team

30-minute call. Align on project scale, contract form (GMP, design-build, EPC), team structure, client profile, and start date.

Step 02

Review hand-selected talent

Within 2 weeks we introduce 3–5 Project Directors with delivered mega-project history at your scale. References from prior owners and executives included.

Step 03

Hire with confidence

Every placement carries a replacement guarantee. If the hire fails within the warranty window, we run a no-fee replacement search.

Why iRecruit.co for Project Director Hires

What makes our Project Director shortlist different

Project Directors carry the project P&L and the client relationship at the same time. Delivered mega-project history, margin discipline, and executive presence separate a PD who compounds the account from one who burns it.

01

Delivered mega-project history

Every Project Director has verified completion history at $250M+ scale — delivered, not just staffed on.

02

P&L + margin discipline

Reference-verified fee protection, change-order command, and contingency management through closeout.

03

Client-executive alignment

Reference-verified owner relationships — PDs who turn one project into a program of repeat work.

FAQ

Hiring a Project Director: frequently asked questions

How long does it take to hire a Project Director?

Time to shortlist is typically 2 weeks from scoping call. Total time to placement is typically 4–6 weeks — senior candidates carry notice periods and often relocation.

What does it cost to hire a Project Director?

Pricing depends on engagement model. Per-role search is a defined fee; confidential replacements route through executive search.

What does a Project Director earn in 2026?

US base compensation typically runs $190K–$260K with 20–40% bonus. Hyperscale data center and semiconductor PDs at $1B+ scale commonly reach $275K–$325K base plus long-term incentives.

How is a Project Director different from a Project Executive?

Project Director owns delivery of a single major project or campus. Project Executive typically owns an account or portfolio of projects with P&L across several PMs/PDs. Titles vary by firm — we scope to responsibilities, not titles.

Can you run a confidential Project Director search?

Yes. Replacing an incumbent PD or lifting a competitor’s delivery leader routes through retained executive search with tight confidentiality controls.

Do you offer a placement guarantee?

Yes. Every Project Director placement carries a replacement guarantee. Guarantee terms are confirmed in writing at engagement start.
