Spalding County, Georgia, is set to become home to a massive new data center, following the approval of a $3.9 billion project by the Spalding County Board of Commissioners. On January 22, the board unanimously approved three zoning requests, clearing the way for the construction of a sprawling 190-acre campus at 5745 and 5841 Jackson Road. The development, led by applicant Wallace Jackson LLC, could feature as many as ten buildings, covering nearly five million square feet (463,215 square meters) of space once fully built.

The project is anticipated to reach its full build-out by 2035, as outlined in the filing. The land is owned by Doug of Havenwood Holdings, believed to be local developer Doug Adams, known for his involvement in significant warehouse developments across Georgia. This Doug Adams is unrelated to the NTT GDC CEO who shares the same name.

This approval continues Spalding County’s recent trend of supporting data center projects as a means of boosting local tax revenue. In the past year, the Board of Commissioners also gave the green light to two other data center campuses. These projects include Spalding Investments LLC’s development of eight two-story data centers across 127 acres in Griffin, totaling 3.9 million square feet (362,321 square meters) of building space, as well as Montana Property Group LLC’s "Project Spalding", which is projected to span 2.55 million square feet (236,900 square meters).

Spalding County, located approximately 40 miles (64 kilometers) south of Georgia’s state capital, Atlanta, has increasingly positioned itself as a hub for large-scale data center developments, welcoming the economic benefits that come with such projects. Construction of this new facility will further solidify the county's role in supporting digital infrastructure.
