Fleet Data Centers has officially commenced construction on its first facility near Reno, Nevada. The groundbreaking ceremony, attended by Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo, marked the beginning of a significant project for the data center developer.
Located in Storey County, the facility will span a 256-acre site and is designed to deliver 230 megawatts (MW) of power capacity. Fleet has secured a 197-month triple net (NNN) lease for the data center with an unnamed tenant described as "AA- investment grade rated" and possessing a market capitalization exceeding $3 trillion. The identity of the tenant has not been disclosed, although earlier reports speculated that Nvidia might be involved.
The land for this development was provided by Tract, a company specializing in preparing land for data center construction. Tract, founded by former Cologix CEO Gran Van Rooyen, has acquired over 11,000 acres in Storey County as part of its plans to create a data center park. While Tract facilitates land readiness, Fleet was established by Tract Capital to focus on building large-scale data center campuses. According to Fleet, the company prioritizes the development of "mega-scale campuses with a prioritized target of single-user campuses" capable of exceeding 500MW.
This project in Storey County is Fleet’s first confirmed development, signifying a milestone in the company's mission to establish significant data infrastructure across the region.
Fleet’s entry into Reno’s data center landscape coincides with growing demand for high-capacity, state-of-the-art facilities to support emerging technologies and industries. With construction now underway, the project is set to contribute to the state’s expanding role as a hub for data infrastructure.
