TotalEnergies has announced a landmark agreement with Google, signing two Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) to deliver 1GW of solar energy capacity to power data centers in Texas. This 15-year commitment represents a major step in advancing renewable energy infrastructure in the region and underscores the growing collaboration between technology giants and energy providers to achieve sustainability goals.

Solar Farms to Support Google’s Energy Needs

The renewable energy will be generated from two solar farms owned by TotalEnergies and currently under development in Texas. The Wichita solar site will provide 805MWp, while the Mustang Creek site will contribute 195MWp. Construction on these projects is set to begin in the second quarter of 2026. Over the 15-year term, TotalEnergies will supply Google with 28TWh of renewable electricity to meet the energy demands of its Texas-based data centers.

This agreement is part of Google's broader efforts to secure clean, reliable, and affordable energy for its global infrastructure. "Supporting a strong, stable, affordable grid is a top priority as we expand our infrastructure. Our agreement with TotalEnergies adds necessary new generation to the local system, boosting the amount of affordable and reliable power supply available to serve the entire region", said Will Conkling, Director of Clean Energy and Power at Google.

Job Creation and Economic Opportunities

In addition to advancing clean energy goals, the Wichita and Mustang Creek solar farms are expected to create several hundred construction jobs. TotalEnergies also highlighted the long-term contributions these projects will make to local public services, with significant tax revenues generated over the lifespan of the installations.

The scale and scope of these projects present substantial opportunities for construction contractors, civil engineering firms, and specialist solar installation companies operating in Texas. These developments align with TotalEnergies' broader renewable energy initiatives in the United States, where it already has a 10GW portfolio of onshore solar, wind, and battery storage capacity.

Expanding TotalEnergies' Renewable Footprint

TotalEnergies

TotalEnergies continues to grow its renewable energy footprint globally, with over 32GW of installed gross renewable electricity capacity as of October 2025. The company aims to achieve more than 100TWh of net electricity production by 2030. This partnership with Google represents the largest renewable PPA volume ever signed by TotalEnergies in the United States.

Marc-Antoine Pignon, Vice President of Renewables US for TotalEnergies, emphasized the significance of the agreement, stating, "We are pleased to sign these agreements to supply renewable electricity to Google in Texas, representing the largest renewable PPA volume ever signed by TotalEnergies in the United States. This highlights TotalEnergies' strategy to deliver tailored renewable energy solutions that support the decarbonization goals of digital players, particularly data centers."

Meeting the Energy Demands of Data Centers

The agreements with Google come at a time when data centers are placing a higher priority on reliable, low-carbon energy sources to support expanding operations. Projects like Wichita and Mustang Creek help operators meet decarbonization targets while ensuring consistent energy supply. Additionally, the long-term nature of these PPAs provides stability for both energy providers and customers.

Through this collaboration, TotalEnergies is also addressing the challenges of land availability and power supply for data centers, enabling large-scale colocations and better integration of renewable energy with local infrastructure.

A Broader Vision for Renewable Energy

This partnership with Google complements TotalEnergies' existing agreements with companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, and Airbus, highlighting its role as a key player in delivering renewable energy solutions to corporate clients. By combining solar, wind, and energy storage technologies, the company is well-positioned to meet the growing demand for clean and flexible energy assets in the United States and around the world.

As TotalEnergies and Google work together to develop large-scale solar projects, the partnership not only advances their respective sustainability goals but also creates tangible benefits for communities through job creation and economic contributions. These developments signal a promising future for renewable energy in Texas and beyond.
