Hire Quality Managers

Hire Quality Managers who own the plant quality system outright — AS9100, NADCAP and ISO 9001 registration, supplier quality, MRB, CAPA closure, FAI to AS9102, DCMA and customer source inspection, and the metrology and inspection teams behind them. Built for aerospace, defense-tech, space and battery manufacturers. Reference-verified audit history and escape rates, not a certificate list.

How It Works

Hire Quality Managers in 3 steps

A structured process for the hire that holds the plant’s AS9100 certificate and its customer approvals — where the wrong Quality Manager runs MRB as a rubber stamp, lets CAPAs age past 90 days, and the first sign is a registrar major finding, a customer-issued corrective action request, or DCMA withdrawing delegated inspection.

Step 01

Talk to our team

30-minute call. Align on plant type and phase (new site, ramp, steady-state), registrations held or targeted (AS9100D, AS9110, ISO 9001, NADCAP for welding, heat treat, NDT, chemical processing or composites), customer and DCMA oversight, supplier base size, inspection headcount and shift pattern, reporting line, and start date.

Step 02

Review hand-selected talent

Within 2 weeks we introduce 3–5 Quality Managers with verified quality-system ownership in comparable plants — people who have sat through the registrar audit as management representative, chaired MRB, and answered to a DCMA QAR. References from prior plant managers and quality directors included.

Step 03

Hire with confidence

Every placement carries a replacement guarantee. If the hire fails within the warranty window, we run a no-fee replacement search.

Why iRecruit.co for Quality Manager Hires

What makes our Quality Manager shortlist different

Quality Managers own the gap between a plant that ships on its own authority and one that ships only after a customer waiver. Audit history, CAPA discipline, and how they run MRB and supplier quality separate a Quality Manager who protects deliveries from one who documents escapes.

01

Quality system ownership verified

Every Quality Manager on the shortlist has been the named management representative or system owner through a registrar cycle — AS9100D or ISO 9001 surveillance and recertification audits, NADCAP accreditation audits where the plant holds special processes, customer approvals such as Boeing D6-82479 or Lockheed QCS-001, and internal audit programs they scheduled and closed. We confirm which registrations, which registrar, and what findings landed on their watch.

02

Escape, CAPA and supplier record referenced

Reference-verified customer escape rate, internal DPMO or first-pass yield trend, CAPA aging, and supplier PPM across the plants they ran, plus how they handled a customer CAR, a DCMA Level II or III CAR, or a stop-ship. Not a bullet on a resume — a track record confirmed by the people who signed their reviews. Where the record is not reachable we mark it unverified rather than claiming it.

03

Fluency in the hardware and the paperwork

AS9102 first article inspection packages, PPAP where automotive-derived battery customers require it, MRB dispositions with customer-authorized use-as-is and repair, key characteristics and SPC on machined and formed parts, CMM programs and GD&T per ASME Y14.5, calibration to ISO 17025, DCMA source inspection and DD250 acceptance, Government Property under FAR 52.245-1, and counterfeit-parts control under AS5553 and AS6174. Matched to your plant, not a generalist from consumer goods.

Vetting Criteria

What we verify on every Quality Manager candidate

Quality Manager hires live and die on audit history, CAPA discipline, and how they run MRB, suppliers and the customer relationship. Below is what every candidate has documented before you meet them:

Quality system ownership

Reference-verified ownership of an AS9100, AS9110 or ISO 9001 quality management system — quality manual, procedure tree, internal audit schedule, management review, and registrar audit results — at a plant of comparable headcount and product mix. We ask specifically how the system survived a ramp, a new customer flowdown, or a registrar change.

Audit and customer approval history

Verified registrar cycles as management representative, NADCAP accreditation audits and Task Group findings, customer special-process and source approvals, DCMA QAR relationship and CAR history, and any certificate suspension or stop-ship on their watch — and what they did about it.

MRB, CAPA and FAI discipline

Verified MRB chairmanship with disposition authority, CAPA closure rate and aging, root-cause method (8D, 5-Why, fault tree), and AS9102 first article throughput on new part introductions.

Supplier quality and inspection organization

Verified supplier approval and surveillance program, supplier PPM trend, source inspection delegation, receiving inspection sampling plans, and the size and shift coverage of the inspection, metrology and lab teams they built or ran — including CMM programming, calibration to ISO 17025, and NDT Level III oversight where applicable.

Credentials verified

ASQ CMQ/OE, CQE, CQA, CSSBB, AS9100 or ISO 9001 lead auditor, NADCAP auditor training, IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 CIS where electronics are in scope, and Green or Black Belt where claimed — all checked.

Compensation alignment

Plant, program and multi-site Quality Manager comp bands aligned before finalists are introduced, including premiums for DCMA-resident plants, NADCAP special-process scope, and relocation to new-site builds.

FAQ

Hiring a Quality Manager: frequently asked questions

How long does it take to hire a Quality Manager?

Time to shortlist is typically 2 weeks from scoping call. Total time to placement (shortlist through offer acceptance) is typically 3–5 weeks. Sitting Quality Managers rarely leave in the run-up to a registrar audit or a customer source audit — we manage notice periods and handover of open CAPAs and audit findings as part of the search. If the seat is vacant with a surveillance audit or NADCAP reaccreditation on the calendar, tell us on the call and we prioritize candidates who can start inside the window.

What does a Quality Manager cost in 2026?

Most US plant-level Quality Managers land between $115K and $155K base depending on metro, headcount, and registration scope. Aerospace, defense-tech, space and battery plants with AS9100D plus NADCAP, resident DCMA oversight, or a 50-plus-person inspection organization typically run $150K–$200K base plus bonus. Multi-site and director-track seats run higher. These are market bands; we confirm live market bands for your plant during scoping. See our quality engineer salary guide for the team-level bands beneath the manager.

How is a Quality Manager different from a Quality Engineer?

A Quality Engineer owns quality for a product line, process or cell — control plans, FAI packages, nonconformance investigation, SPC. A Quality Manager owns the plant system: the certificate, the registrar and customer relationship, MRB authority, CAPA governance, the supplier program, and the inspection organization. If your plant holds or is pursuing AS9100 registration and someone has to be management representative, hire the manager profile. Most plants of 150-plus people need both.

Quality Manager versus QA/QC Manager or Supplier Quality Engineer — which do I need?

A QA/QC Manager is the construction-side title — ITPs, weld and concrete inspection, turnover packages on a project. A Quality Manager runs a standing manufacturing plant. A Supplier Quality Engineer owns the supplier base — audits, PPAP, corrective action at the vendor — and usually reports to the Quality Manager. Reindustrialization sites often run both titles in sequence: a QA/QC Manager through construction and commissioning, then a Quality Manager once the plant is producing.

Do you require ASQ certification or lead-auditor training?

No. ASQ CMQ/OE, CQE and AS9100 lead-auditor training are strong signals and we verify them when claimed, but reference-verified system ownership through a registrar cycle outweighs certificates. Where the plant holds NADCAP special processes or a DCMA-resident contract, we do weight direct audit and QAR experience heavily.

Can you recruit Quality Managers for ITAR-controlled, DCMA-resident or cleared plants?

Yes. We screen for US-person status where the plant requires it, document any active clearance held, and verify prior work under ITAR, CUI and DFARS flowdowns including Government Property and DD250 acceptance. We do not shortlist candidates who cannot meet the access requirements on your call.

Do you offer a placement guarantee?

Yes. Every Quality Manager placement carries a replacement guarantee. Guarantee terms are confirmed in writing at engagement start. The guarantee applies across direct-hire, embedded and RPO engagements alike.

Can you build a full quality organization?

Yes. Multi-hire builds (Quality Manager plus Quality Engineers, Supplier Quality Engineers, inspectors and Test Engineers across shifts) route through embedded recruiting or RPO. Multi-site quality directors and VPs of quality route through executive search.
