Corgan acquires WCGS Architects to expand Northeast reach

Corgan has acquired WCGS Architects, adding the Albany, New York-based practice as it broadens its footprint across the Northeast and builds on its work in mission critical and higher education projects.

The deal brings WCGS into a global architecture and design firm that already has offices in New York City, Boston, and Washington, D.C., along with an established presence in New York state and the East Coast. Corgan said the addition strengthens its capabilities in sectors where both firms are active.

Founded in 1981, WCGS Architects grew from development roots into a multidisciplinary design practice with projects spanning corporate, institutional, mission critical, workplace, and large-scale commercial developments. According to the announcement, the firm serves clients in New York and throughout the East Coast, Canada, and Caribbean.

Corgan works across aviation and transportation, data centers, education, government, health, hospitality and retail, mixed-use, multifamily, office, and workplace.

Corgan is ranked the No. 4 firm in the U.S. by Architectural Record and Building Design+Construction. The company said bringing WCGS into the firm will give the Albany team access to advanced research capabilities, broader technical resources, specialized practice areas, and an international portfolio.

The integration is also expected to improve the combined firm's ability to address complex client challenges while maintaining the personalized service and responsiveness associated with WCGS.
