Digital Edge has unveiled plans for a groundbreaking investment of $4.5 billion to establish one of Indonesia’s largest AI-ready hyperscale data center campuses. The project, set to be located in the GIIC Industrial Estate in Bekasi, represents the company’s most significant infrastructure commitment to date.
The new campus, named the CGK Campus, will deliver up to 500 MW of IT capacity upon full development, with scalability options that could expand its capacity to 1 GW. Digital Edge has positioned the campus as a leader in hyperscale and AI-ready capabilities for the Greater Jakarta region. The facility will be situated less than 15 kilometers from major data center clusters in Jakarta, offering low-latency access to key business hubs and contributing to the enhancement of Indonesia’s digital ecosystem.
The development is planned in multiple phases. According to Digital Edge, the first phase will include three buildings, with the first scheduled for completion by Q4 2026. The second and third buildings will follow in Q1 2027 and Q2 2027, respectively.
Digital Edge has engineered the CGK Campus to support next-generation AI workloads, incorporating innovative features to enhance both performance and sustainability. The campus is targeting a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.25 and will include technologies such as direct-to-chip liquid cooling, recycled-water systems, and renewable energy integration.
"The CGK Campus is a pivotal milestone in our APAC strategy and our largest infrastructure investment to date", said John Freeman, CEO of Digital Edge. "This landmark investment will enable us to drive the next decade of innovation, cloud adoption, and digital services across Indonesia and the broader region."
Indonesia, Southeast Asia’s largest economy, is experiencing rapid growth in its digital economy, fueling demand for infrastructure capable of supporting AI and cloud services. According to Mordor Intelligence, the country’s data center market was valued at $1.6 billion in 2025 and is expected to more than double to $3.5 billion by 2031. This growth is attracting high-profile investments in the region.
Recent examples include Equinix’s $70 million investment in October 2022, Microsoft’s $1.7 billion plan to expand AI and cloud infrastructure in April 2024, and Damac Group’s $2.3 billion AI-focused data center project announced in June 2025. Digital Realty also advanced into the market in March 2025 through a joint venture with Bersama Digital Infrastructure Asia.
Stephanus Oscar, CEO of Digital Edge Indonesia, noted the challenges posed by the rapid expansion of the digital economy: "Indonesia’s digital economy is expanding faster than infrastructure can keep up."
The CGK Campus forms part of Digital Edge's broader expansion strategy across the Asia-Pacific region. Headquartered in Singapore, the company is backed by Stonepeak and operates data center and fiber solutions across nine APAC markets. In October 2025, Digital Edge secured a $325 million credit facility to support its Indonesian expansion, including the CGK Campus and the final phase of the 23 MW Edge 2 data center in South Jakarta.
By committing to this transformative initiative, Digital Edge aims to strengthen its presence in Indonesia and reshape the digital infrastructure landscape to meet the growing demands of AI and digital services. As the project develops, it is expected to play a critical role in advancing cloud adoption and technological innovation across the region.
