In a move poised to reshape Brazil’s data center and renewable energy sectors, data center platform Omnia has signed a $2 billion energy supply agreement with Casa dos Ventos, one of the country’s leading renewable energy developers. The 20-year partnership will provide clean energy to Omnia’s upcoming data center at the Pecem port complex in the northeastern state of Ceará.
The deal between Omnia and Casa dos Ventos represents a significant milestone. The energy supplied under the agreement will be sourced from Casa dos Ventos' Ibiapaba wind complex and the Dom Inocencio wind farm, located in the state of Piauí. Notably, the agreement adopts a self-production model, granting Omnia a stake in Casa dos Ventos' assets. While the size of the stake remains undisclosed, this arrangement underscores the scale and strategic importance of this endeavor.
Highlighting the groundbreaking nature of the deal, it was reported that this is Casa dos Ventos' largest agreement with a single offtaker to date. The renewable energy firm has previously collaborated with other major data center operators, including Odata and Ascenty, but the partnership with Omnia surpasses all prior agreements in scale.
The energy provided through this agreement will power what is expected to become the largest data center in Brazil. Located in Ceará's Pecem port complex, the facility is being developed to host ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok. Construction on the data center began earlier this year in January, with initial operations scheduled to commence in the third quarter of 2027. The facility is designed to scale gradually, with expansions anticipated to continue until 2029.
When completed, the data center will represent a total investment exceeding $39 billion. The facility will begin with an initial capacity of 300MW, with the potential to scale up to 900MW, making it a critical hub for hyperscale computing and artificial intelligence infrastructure in the region.
This ambitious project has garnered significant support and regulatory approvals. Casa dos Ventos obtained approval for the data center development in June 2025, paving the way for its construction. Additionally, Patria Investimentos, the parent company of Omnia, joined the project the following month, serving as the primary developer on behalf of Casa dos Ventos.
Patria launched Omnia just last year, positioning it as a hyperscale data center platform aimed at addressing the growing demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure. The partnership with Casa dos Ventos aligns with Omnia’s broader strategy of leveraging renewable energy to meet the needs of energy-intensive computing operations.
Casa dos Ventos plays a pivotal role in advancing renewable energy solutions in Brazil. The company’s portfolio includes approximately 33.4GW of wind and solar projects, with 12GW developed in partnership with the French energy giant TotalEnergies. This latest agreement further solidifies Casa’s position as a leader in the renewable energy sector and highlights the growing intersection of clean energy and hyperscale data center development.
As construction progresses, the Omnia-Casa dos Ventos partnership is set to usher in a new era of sustainable energy use in Brazil’s data center industry, paving the way for a greener and more connected future.
