Pacific West, LLC has acquired Coleman Industrial Construction, adding a Kansas City, Missouri-based rail and industrial facilities contractor to its growing platform and extending its operations into the Midwest.
Coleman Industrial Construction, also referred to as CIC, provides construction, renovation, environmental, maintenance and repair services for rail and industrial facilities. Founded in 1979, the company primarily serves Class I railroads and works on locomotive servicing and fueling systems, yard air systems, railcar maintenance facilities, and wastewater, stormwater and related mechanical and environmental infrastructure.
The deal gives Pacific West a new base in Kansas City, adding to its existing operations in Salt Lake City, Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio and Phoenix. Pacific West is backed by Bluejay Capital Partners.
"CIC brings decades of rail and industrial expertise, its strong reputation in the Midwest, and its service lines as a direct extension of what we already do across the country", said Bob Weber, CEO of Pacific West. "Paul and Stephanie Freeman built a business grounded in quality and client service, and we are glad to have Paul joining our team as we continue to grow the platform nationally."
Paul Freeman, owner of Coleman Industrial Construction, is joining Pacific West's Business Development team as part of the transaction.
"Pacific West was the right fit for our customers and our team, given our shared expertise in specialty rail and environmental contracting", said Paul Freeman, owner of Coleman Industrial Construction and now member of the Business Development team at Pacific West. "We look forward to using the resources of the combined platform to extend our reach and serve our customers across the country."
Bluejay said the acquisition continues Pacific West's expansion strategy through both internal growth and add-on deals. The Coleman transaction is Pacific West's third add-on since Bluejay's initial investment. It follows the acquisitions of Eagle Remediation & Demolition Services in December 2022 and Overley's and Hawkke in July 2023.
"CIC's Kansas City base of operations extends our infrastructure and environmental contracting platform into a new geography, while adding additional talent and capability within our rail segment providing a more competitive solution to our customers in the east", said James Samuelsen, Partner at Bluejay. "We continue to grow Pacific West both organically and through add-on acquisitions, and CIC is the next step in that plan."
