Siemens Energy has announced a $1 billion investment aimed at bolstering energy infrastructure equipment manufacturing in the United States. This substantial commitment includes increasing production capacities, establishing new facilities, and expanding the company’s workforce.

The investment will focus on several key initiatives, including the construction of a new factory in Mississippi and upgrades to existing facilities across multiple states. Siemens Energy expects to create over 1,500 new jobs in manufacturing, operations, and engineering as part of this expansion effort.

Major Investments Across the US

The expansion plan highlights Siemens Energy’s focus on strengthening domestic manufacturing and modernizing energy infrastructure. Key investments include:

  • Mississippi: A new high-voltage switchgear facility will be built in the Greater Richland Area to manufacture critical grid components. This facility will employ up to 300 people and feature a training center to support workforce development.
  • North Carolina: Siemens Energy will increase manufacturing and servicing capabilities for large power transformers and resume gas turbine production in Charlotte. Additional work will occur in Winston-Salem, focusing on gas turbine parts, while Raleigh will see expanded grid technology projects, engineering, sales, and research and development. Across these three communities, the company plans to add 500 new jobs while fostering partnerships with local trade schools and universities.
  • Florida: In Tampa, the company will ramp up production of blades and vanes essential for gas turbines. In Orlando, Siemens Energy will enhance research and development at its Innovation Center, including the creation of an artificial intelligence digital grid technologies laboratory in collaboration with NVIDIA. Additionally, the company will relocate and modernize its headquarters to Orlando’s Lake Nona community.
  • Alabama: The Fort Payne facility will expand production of copper and insulation electrical components for generators, leading to 120 new jobs.
  • New York and Texas: Facilities in Painted Post, New York, and Houston, Texas, will be upgraded to enhance manufacturing and service capabilities for compression equipment used in pipeline operations.

Workforce Development and Innovation

The investments aim to strengthen Siemens Energy’s ability to meet the country’s growing energy demands while fostering job creation and innovation. The company’s focus on workforce development includes creating a training center in Mississippi and continuing collaborations with educational institutions in North Carolina.

By expanding its manufacturing footprint and upgrading its facilities, Siemens Energy is positioning itself as a key player in the modernization of energy infrastructure in the United States. This initiative underscores the company’s commitment to supporting both the nation’s energy transition and the domestic economy.

With over $1 billion dedicated to these efforts, Siemens Energy’s expansion plan marks a significant step forward in addressing the needs of modern energy systems and supply chains.
