How long does it take to hire an EHS Engineer?

Time to shortlist is typically 2 weeks from scoping call. Total time to placement (shortlist through offer acceptance) is typically 3–4 weeks. Seats requiring SEMI S2 review experience or PSM-covered process history can run a week longer because the pool is thinner. If the seat has to be filled before a line commissions, tell us the FAT/SAT dates on the call and we work back from them.

What does an EHS Engineer cost in 2026?

Most US EHS Engineers land between $95K and $130K base depending on metro and equipment base. Senior EHS Engineers and process-safety specialists in gigafactories, fabs, and launch or test environments — especially with CSP, CMSE or a PE — typically run $125K–$160K base plus bonus. These are market bands; we confirm live market bands for your plant during scoping.

How is an EHS Engineer different from an EHS Manager?

The EHS Manager owns the site program — OSHA and EPA compliance, permits, incident rates, contractor safety — and usually manages people. The EHS Engineer owns the engineering work under that program: risk assessments, safeguarding, PHA, LOTO, ergonomics, and design review on new equipment. Small plants sometimes combine them; we scope by responsibilities, not title. If you already have an EHS Manager and the backlog is safeguarding, PHA and LOTO, the engineer is the missing seat.

EHS Engineer versus Safety Engineer or Construction Safety Engineer — which do I need?

“Safety Engineer” is usually the same seat without the environmental scope; we recruit both under one search. A Construction Safety Engineer works the build phase — cranes, excavation, fall protection, energized work during commissioning. If your hazards are machines and processes running inside a finished plant, hire the EHS Engineer.

Do you require CSP, CMSE or a PE?

No. CSP and CMSE are strong signals and a PE matters where the engineer stamps designs, and we verify all of them when claimed, but reference-verified risk-assessment method and closed findings outweigh credentials. Can you recruit EHS Engineers for a facility that is still under construction?

Yes. Safety-by-design seats that start during design or construction and carry through commissioning are core coverage — the engineer joins design reviews, writes the equipment safety specification, and runs FAT/SAT safety validation before first production.
