Hire NDT Technicians

Hire NDT Technicians on direct hire or contract — Level I and Level II in UT, PT, MT, RT and ET certified under NAS 410 or ASNT SNT-TC-1A — running shift inspection on aerospace, launch-vehicle, defense and shipyard production lines: reading the written procedure, applying the acceptance criteria as written, calibrating to the reference standard, and writing a reject the Level III can defend. Method hours, certification records and escape history verified with the Level III who signed the cert.

How It Works

Hire NDT Technicians in 3 steps

A structured process for the inspector who signs the traveler at 2 a.m. — where a technician who skips the calibration block, reads the acceptance criteria from memory, or accepts an indication because the schedule needs the part means a flight-critical defect shipped, a certification audit finding, and a stop-ship the whole plant answers for.

Step 01

Talk to our team

30-minute call. Align on the methods you need (UT, PT, MT, RT, ET or a pairing), the parts and materials (aluminum-lithium weldments, titanium forgings, carbon-fiber laminates, steel hull plate), your written practice and certifying Level III, the equipment on the floor, shift pattern, NADCAP or customer-source requirements, ITAR U.S.-person status, direct-hire or contract, and start date.

Step 02

Review hand-selected talent

Within 2 weeks we introduce 3–5 NDT Technicians with verified Level I or Level II certification records and shift inspection history on comparable aerospace, launch, defense or shipyard hardware — not quality inspectors relabeled and not classroom-only certificate holders. References from the certifying Level III and the inspection lead included.

Step 03

Hire with confidence

Every placement carries a replacement guarantee. If the hire fails within the warranty window, we run a no-fee replacement search. Contract and temp-to-hire engagements carry their own written terms.

Why iRecruit.co for NDT Technician Hires

What makes our NDT Technician shortlist different

NDT Technicians decide whether a signed inspection record is evidence or a signature. Procedure discipline, calibration habit and the willingness to write a reject the production supervisor does not want separate a technician the Level III can leave on 3rd shift from one who has to be re-inspected.

01

Certification records verified with the Level III

Every NDT Technician has certification history traced to the employer’s written practice — method, level, hours logged, general, specific and practical exam dates, vision exam currency and recertification cycle. We confirm it with the Level III who signed the cert, not from a wallet card, and we check whether the level transfers cleanly to your written practice or needs re-examination on arrival.

02

Shift inspection depth on real production parts

Reference-verified inspection of the parts you actually make: friction-stir and TIG welds on aluminum-lithium tank barrels by phased-array UT, titanium and nickel forgings by immersion UT, machined housings by fluorescent penetrant under a Type I sensitivity level, steel weldments by wet-fluorescent MT with a yoke or coil, fastener holes by bolt-hole eddy current, and film or digital radiography read to the acceptance table. Matched to your methods and materials, not a generic inspector.

03

Reject discipline and audit-ready records

Reference-verified calibration and reference-standard checks logged before every job, indications sized and characterized to the procedure, nonconformance reports a quality engineer can act on, and inspection records that survived a NADCAP or customer-source audit. Plus dependable attendance on 2nd, 3rd, compressed or weekend inspection shifts.

What we verify on every NDT Technician candidate

NDT Technician hires live and die on certification integrity, calibration habit and reject discipline. Below is what every candidate has documented before you meet them:

Certification records traced

Level I or Level II certification per NAS 410 or ASNT SNT-TC-1A for each claimed method, with training and experience hours, exam dates, vision exam currency and recertification cycle confirmed with the certifying Level III — and a clear view of what re-examination your written practice will require.

Shift inspection history

Reference-verified production inspection on aerospace, launch, defense or shipyard parts in your materials — welds, forgings, castings, machined parts, composites or hull structures — at a volume and pace comparable to your line.

Procedure and calibration discipline

Verified habit of reading the procedure and acceptance criteria before the job, running calibration and reference-standard checks and logging them, and stopping when equipment or process controls fall outside the technique sheet.

Reject and record quality

Verified nonconformance reports with sized and characterized indications, inspection records that passed a NADCAP or customer-source audit, and reference confirmation of escape history from the inspection lead or Level III.

Credentials verified

NAS 410 or SNT-TC-1A certification records, radiation-safety training and dosimetry history for RT, OSHA 10/30, ITAR U.S.-person eligibility and any clearance status — all checked.

Hourly rates, method premiums, shift differentials, contract versus direct-hire expectations and lead-technician bands aligned before finalists are introduced.

FAQ

Hiring an NDT Technician: frequently asked questions

How long does it take to hire an NDT Technician?

Time to shortlist is typically 2 weeks from scoping call. Contract seats often fill faster because technicians rolling off a completed inspection campaign or a shipyard availability can start on short notice. Direct-hire placements typically run 3–4 weeks from shortlist to start, including notice periods and any re-examination your written practice requires on arrival.

What does an NDT Technician cost in 2026?

Most US Level II NDT Technicians on aerospace, launch, defense and shipyard work land between $28 and $42 per hour ($58K–$87K annualized) depending on metro, methods held and clearance. Level I technicians typically run $20–$28 per hour; phased-array UT, RT with radiation-safety custody and lead technicians typically run $40–$55 per hour, with shift differentials of 8–15% for 2nd, 3rd and weekend coverage. Those are market bands — we confirm live market bands during scoping.

Do you do contract or temp-to-hire?

Yes. NDT Technicians are available on direct hire, contract and temp-to-hire. Contract and temp-to-hire run under our Recruiting Support model — same certification tracing and reference checks, and you convert when the inspector proves the fit on your line. Ask us for the markup structure in writing; contract and temp-to-hire options are available — ask on the call.

How is an NDT Technician different from an NDT Inspector Level III?

The NDT Inspector Level III owns the written practice, writes and approves procedures and technique sheets, certifies the Level I and II staff and answers to the NADCAP auditor. The NDT Technician at Level I or II performs the inspection to that procedure on shift, calibrates the equipment, and accepts or rejects the part against the acceptance criteria as written. If you need someone to author procedures or certify staff, that is a Level III search; if you need shift coverage on the inspection line, this page is the right one.

Should I hire an NDT Technician or a Quality Engineer?

If the seat is defined by performing UT, PT, MT, RT or ET on production parts to a written procedure, it is an NDT Technician. If it is defined by dispositioning nonconformances, running MRB, owning corrective action and the AS9100 system, it is a Quality Engineer. The technician finds and documents the indication; the engineer decides what happens to the part. Many plants need both, and we scope them as separate seats.

Do you require NAS 410 or ASNT certification?

For aerospace and defense inspection, yes in practice: Level II work requires certification under your written practice per NAS 410 or SNT-TC-1A, and we trace those records with the certifying Level III before introduction. Because certification is employer-specific, every hire re-examines under your Level III on arrival; we tell you which candidates carry the hours and exam history to pass that cleanly and which are Level I trainees who need supervised time first. For RT we also verify radiation-safety training and dosimetry history, and where the part requires it we screen for ITAR U.S.-person eligibility and clearance status.

Do you offer a placement guarantee?

Yes. Every NDT Technician direct-hire placement carries a replacement guarantee, and contract engagements carry a replacement provision for a technician who does not work out or does not pass re-examination under your written practice. Terms are confirmed in writing at engagement start.

Can you staff a full inspection shift or a new NDT cell?

Yes. Multi-hire builds — a 3-shift inspection crew for a new tank-weld line, a penetrant and magnetic particle cell, technicians plus an NDT Level III and Quality Engineers — route through embedded recruiting or RPO. We never promise headcount capacity before scoping; we agree the ramp plan and hiring cadence on the call.
