John M. Wilson, Google's head of global design and construction, has joined Anthropic to lead EMEA capacity delivery as a member of technical staff. His appointment follows six years at Google and adds to a growing group of former Google employees on Anthropic's data center teams.
Wilson brings experience from Amazon, where he served as European head of design and construction, as well as roles as chief of staff at the British Army and director of infrastructure at NATO.
"Leading global infrastructure delivery across data centers and subsea programs taught me two enduring truths", Wilson said on LinkedIn. "Scale is humbling, but high-trust teams make the extraordinary feel routine. Clear intent, rigorous operational control, and calm execution will always beat complexity."
Commenting on the new role, he added: "The stakes and scale have never been higher, and I’m eager to get stuck in."
Wilson joins several former Google colleagues working across Anthropic's infrastructure operations. They include Winnie Leung, now head of data center infrastructure, and Brett Rogers, a former data center construction lead at Google.
Liwen Mao, previously a staff data center system architect, is now Anthropic's data center design lead. Adam Johnson became its data center electrical lead in October after a decade at Google.
The hires also span security and operations. Peter Sarossy, a 20-year Google veteran, joined Anthropic in January as a data center security engineering staff member. Zach Miller left Google after 17 years to become Anthropic's data center operations manager. Scarlett Chen, a data center engineer for advanced technology and innovation, is now a member of technical staff at Anthropic.
Anthropic has also recruited former Google employees for energy planning, capacity delivery and compute finance.
In April, Sana Ouji moved from Google to Anthropic's new energy team to "responsibly and rapidly scale an ambitious data center portfolio."
Mike Brinker joined from Google a month later to focus on capacity delivery. A month after that, Asad Malik was appointed head of compute finance & strategy, adding another former Google employee to Anthropic's infrastructure-related leadership.
