EquipmentShare, Cummins announce 1 GW mobile power deal

EquipmentShare.com Inc has announced a multi-year fleet agreement with Cummins Inc. that is expected to expand its natural gas power generation capacity to 1 gigawatt, supporting major energy projects across the United States.

The agreement positions EquipmentShare as a rental and distribution channel for Cummins as contractors face power constraints tied to growing industrial development and critical infrastructure needs. Regional utility providers are struggling to keep pace with demand, according to the announcement.

The North American Electric Reliability Corporation projects that peak electricity demand in the U.S. will increase by over 220 gigawatts over the next decade.

"Combining Cummins' proven leadership in reliable, mission-critical power solutions with EquipmentShare's technology-driven distribution platform allows us to bring a gigawatt of resilient energy capacity online to high-impact jobsites when and where they need it most", said Jabbok Schlacks, founder and CEO of EquipmentShare.

The planned fleet investment includes a commitment to use the C1400N6C, a 60Hz continuous lean burn gas generator set capable of delivering between 1400 - 1750 kVA of power. EquipmentShare said the expansion would support temporary power, microgrid, and battery energy storage solutions for mission-critical infrastructure projects nationwide.

EquipmentShare plans to use existing natural gas pipeline infrastructure where available, supplemented by virtual pipeline logistics that deliver fuel to off-grid sites. The company said its natural gas-led approach can reduce contractors’ total energy costs by 50% to 80% compared with traditional mobile power.

The expected fleet growth and benefits remain forward-looking. EquipmentShare identified equipment and fuel availability, customer demand, economic conditions, and the companies’ ability to execute the agreement among the risks that could affect those plans.
