Fossefall selects Armada for Nordic AI data center deployments

Fossefall has chosen Armada as a technology partner for planned AI data center deployments across the Nordics, starting with an order for five modular data centers spanning Norway, Sweden, and Finland.

The deployment will use Armada’s Leviathan modular data centers, with the five units together providing 9MW of capacity. Armada said the systems are scheduled for delivery by Q1 2027. The initial contract is valued at several hundred million NOK, or tens of millions of USD.

"We selected Armada for its best-in-class technology, proven execution capabilities, and ability to significantly accelerate time to market", said Øyvind Vesterdal, CEO of Fossefall. "We were also keen to work with a strategic partner manufacturing in Europe, to provide a resilient supply chain and reduce exposure to global disruptions. By refining clean energy into high-tech AI capacity, we will ensure national control over critical technology, create a billion-kroner export industry and produce significant local economic benefits."

Armada launched the megawatt-scale Leviathan module in July 2025. The company said the module has a 1.77MW maximum IT load, uses liquid cooling, and can be deployed in remote, mission-critical environments. It can also be co-located with stranded natural gas, solar, nuclear, or other alternative energy sources.

Fossefall launched in November 2025 and at that time said it planned for 500MW of capacity. That target has since increased to 1GW across the Nordics. Vesterdal previously served as CEO of data center firm Earth Wind and Power. He is also a partner at investment firm Glacier Link and has held roles at investment firm Valinor, AI startup WAIYS, and renewable energy company Norsk Solar.

The deal adds to Armada’s recent activity in the modular data center market. Earlier this year, the company secured a similar contract in Australia with WinDC for an 11MW deployment. Armada also raised $230 million in May 2026.
