STV has acquired Southern California-based CHAMPS, Inc., adding substation engineering and related technical services as demand grows for grid reliability and infrastructure modernization across the U.S. power sector.
The deal, announced Sept. 15, 2026, expands STV’s utility power engineering presence. CHAMPS will operate within the organization as CHAMPS, an STV Company.
CHAMPS provides engineering and design services for electric utility substations, with work spanning conceptual planning, construction and energization. Its services include engineering studies, protection and control, automation, design packages, quality assurance and construction support.
The company has worked with utility clients including Southern California Edison. According to the source material, those capabilities support multiple stages of substation development and add engineering resources for utility infrastructure projects in California and other markets.

The acquisition adds CHAMPS’ specialized substation engineering experience to that portfolio.
