Zachry Construction wins airfield projects at GSP and RDU

Zachry Construction Corporation has been selected for airfield work at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport and Raleigh-Durham International Airport, taking on projects aimed at improving capacity, pavement reliability, and airport operations at two Southeast aviation hubs.

The company said the assignments cover paving, pavement rehabilitation, lighting, and related work in active airport environments, where construction must be carefully sequenced to support ongoing operations.

At Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport in South Carolina, the Greenville-Spartanburg Airport District chose Zachry as prime contractor for the Taxilane 2 Widening Phase 1 and South General Aviation Apron Reconstruction project.

That work includes widening the southern portion of Taxilane 2, rebuilding the South General Aviation Apron with new portland cement concrete pavement, rehabilitating existing asphalt taxilane pavement, and installing new taxiway edge lighting. According to the company, the upgrades are intended to expand aircraft parking and maneuvering capacity, improve pavement reliability, and reduce long-term maintenance needs as GSP continues to grow in general aviation, corporate aviation, cargo, and airport-related business activity.

"Our team will focus on carefully sequencing the work and delivering durable improvements while helping maintain safe and efficient operations at GSP."

At Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina, Zachry was selected by Balfour Beatty to perform $5.26 million in preservation work on Runway 5L-23R. The project was awarded March 17, 2026, with work scheduled in fall 2026.

Zachry's role at RDU includes rapid reconstruction panel replacement, partial-depth concrete repairs, associated taxiway pavement repairs, airfield lighting work, and related airfield safety and operational coordination.
