For the Sourcing Engineer title, almost always yes — the job is reading GD&T, understanding process capability and arguing DFM with design engineers, and employers in this world expect a mechanical, manufacturing or electrical engineering background. We verify the degree when claimed. CPSM or CPIM are secondary signals; awarded RFQs and cost-down results outweigh certificates.
