How to read a best-of list published by a recruiting firm

This guide is published by iRecruit.co, a mission-critical construction and industrial recruiting firm with an electrical practice, and we appear in it — ranked first. You should know that before you read a single ranking, which is why it is the first paragraph and not a footnote.

We published it anyway because “electrician staffing agency” hides four different businesses. National skilled-trades staffing at scale puts journeyman and apprentice electricians on data-center, industrial and commercial jobsites by the dozen on W-2 contract terms, with traveler programs, badging and OSHA training built in. Industrial maintenance and plant electrician staffing supplies maintenance electricians and electrical and mechanical technicians to manufacturers and mission-critical facilities on contingent, temp-to-hire and direct-hire terms. Franchise, regional and full-time-employment models serve contractors outside the major metros or who want travelers on W-2 with benefits. Our lane — the salaried electrical leadership layer: electrical foremen, electrical superintendents, electrical project managers and electrical engineers for data-center, industrial and plant builds — sits above all three. The strongest firm in one lane is usually absent from the others, so this guide is organized by lane.

Ground rules: no scores, no pay-to-play, no affiliate links. No firm named here paid to appear or was told it would be listed. Descriptions stick to the verifiable — stated specializations, published practice areas, figures from the firms’ own materials, attributed as such — and where a commonly repeated fact could not be verified on the firm’s own pages, we left it out. Electrical contractors, integrators and insurers are not staffing agencies and are not listed.

Our conflict of interest, stated plainly

iRecruit.co appears in niche 01, the salaried electrical leadership layer — the only electrical lane we work. Contract and temp-to-hire options are available for the seats we cover — ask on the call — but crews by the dozen are niches 02 through 04. Do not take our word for our own entry. Vet us with the same six checks in section 8 that you should run on every firm on this page.

02 — The ranking

The best electrician staffing agencies, ranked

#1 iRecruit.co — recruiting for the electrical leadership layer, ranked first

We are the disruptor entry on this list — a platform-driven recruiting model, not another traditional agency desk. Cheaper: a published 20% direct-hire success fee and a published 30% retained fee — at or below the traditional bands — instead of a quote on a discovery call. Faster: a published two-week shortlist and a 45–75-day senior-search timeline we expect to be measured against. Better: one market worked exclusively, with credentials and operating history verified before a resume reaches you — and a replacement guarantee in writing.

Ranked with our conflict disclosed in section 1 and criteria you can check — our fees and timelines are published on the linked pages, which no traditional firm on this list does. Vet us with the same six checks in section 8 as everyone else. Read our full entry →

03 — Niche 01

The electrical leadership layer

The niche: the salaried seats a crew of contract electricians cannot perform without — the electrical superintendent who runs the field, the electrical project manager who owns the schedule and the gear buyout, the electrical engineer who designs the medium-voltage and essential-power systems, the electrical QA/QC manager who owns testing and commissioning, and the maintenance manager and facilities technicians who take a data center or plant from turnover into operations. Data-center campuses, fabs and new factories are opening faster than this bench is being built.

Our entry, stated as plainly as we can make it: iRecruit.co’s electrical practice extends our data-center construction model to the leadership layer of electrical builds. We are building candidate density across the foremen, superintendents, electrical PMs and electrical engineers who have actually delivered medium-voltage, paralleling switchgear and UPS scopes on mission-critical and industrial sites — and we publish our fees rather than reveal them on a call: 20% direct hire, 30% retained, a two-week shortlist, and a replacement guarantee in writing. Contract and temp-to-hire options for these seats are available — ask on the call. For thirty journeymen on a Monday, a traveler program with badging and OSHA training, or maintenance electricians on an onsite program, niches 02 through 04 are where you should be looking — and we would rather say so than take the engagement.

This is us — so verify us

04 — Niche 02

National contract-electrician staffing at scale

The niche: journeyman and apprentice electricians by the dozen, on short notice, in labor-constrained metros — supplied as W-2 contract craftworkers by the national firms that run the traveler programs, badging, drug testing and OSHA training that volume requires.

01
Tradesmen International
Macedonia, Ohio, founded 1992 by a commercial electrical contractor — commercial and industrial electricians and linemen among its trades; a named data-center staffing line at apprentice through journeyman levels; nearly 150 local service teams and a national recruiting center the firm puts at 200-plus construction recruiters; company-reported counters of 5,568 active clients and 110,457 onboarded craftworkers
W-2 contract + travelers
02
PeopleReady Skilled Trades (a TrueBlue company)
Division of PeopleReady, parent TrueBlue (NYSE: TBI) — connecting tradespeople and work since 1987; electricians among listed trades; company-stated 9,200-plus tradespeople dispatched annually across 50-plus branches; traveling-tradespeople program bundles drug tests, background checks, badging, OSHA 10/30 training and PPE, “one tradesperson or 100”
W-2 contract + travelers
03
Aerotek
Established 1983 — skilled trades for commercial, industrial, renewable-energy and data-center construction; the firm says it serves 3,000 construction and energy clients annually and wraps license verification, onboarding and badging, project supervision and travel management around its crews; ClearlyRated Best of Staffing client and talent awards eleven consecutive years
Contract + direct placement
05 — Niche 03

Industrial maintenance and plant electrician staffing

The niche: maintenance electricians, electrical and mechanical technicians and low-voltage techs for manufacturers, energy sites and data-center operations — on contingent, temp-to-hire and direct-hire terms, often through onsite programs rather than one-off requisitions.

01
Nesco Resource
Founded in Cleveland in 1956 — named Skilled Trades practice listing electricians, electrical and mechanical technicians, maintenance technicians and automation techs; contingent labor, direct hire, onsite partnership programs, RPO and managed services; a Data Center & Infrastructure division in Hauppauge, New York citing 20 years of data-center experience; company-stated 90-plus branches
Contingent + direct hire + onsite
02
Madden Industrial Craftsmen
Beaverton, Oregon, 35-plus years, third generation of the Madden family — electricians and low-voltage technicians among placed trades; “any hire you need for any amount of time,” per the firm; offices and service areas in 15 states from the Northwest to Texas and the Southeast; Madden carries payroll, benefits and workers’ comp
Temp + temp-to-hire + direct
03
Skillforce
Timonium, Maryland, founded 2003 — construction labor contractor supplying electricians and other craft to contractors in Maryland, DC, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas; branch managers in Baltimore, Richmond, Northern Virginia, Charlotte and Franklin; typical project three to six weeks
Contract labor
06 — Niche 04

Franchise, regional and full-time-employment models for construction electricians

The niche: contractors outside the major metros, or who want travelers on W-2 with benefits rather than day-labor economics, use franchise networks and regional trades firms — and a newer model keeps electricians as full-time employees deployed across contractors.

01
TradeCorp (a HireQuest brand)
Franchise brand of HireQuest, Inc. (NASDAQ: HQI), Goose Creek, South Carolina — commercial electricians, pipefitters, plumbers and industrial painters on temporary and temp-to-perm terms; five TradeCorp offices in Daytona Beach, Fort Myers, Tampa, St. Louis and Nashville, multi-site coverage through the HireQuest network; the FY2025 10-K puts HireQuest at 413 franchisee-owned offices and roughly 75,000 temporary employees in 2025
Temp + temp-to-perm
02
Power Labor
Austin, Texas, operating since 2012 — electricians listed first among its construction trades; temporary and long-term placements with paid time off, health benefits and 401(k) matching; offices in Atlanta, Cleveland, Columbus, Kansas City, Raleigh, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Hampton Roads; the constructionlaborcontractors.com domain now points to Power Labor
Temp + long-term W-2
03
X3 Tradesmen
West Jordan, Utah, founded 2015 — electricians, plumbers and HVAC professionals employed full-time and deployed on demand (X-Staff), direct hire (X-Direct) and replacement (X-Change); Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Austin and a National Division; company-reported 1,200-plus tradespeople deployed a year; the electricianstaffing.com domain now points to X3
Full-time employment + direct hire
04
Labor Finders
West Palm Beach, Florida, founded 1975 — locally owned franchise network of nearly 200 offices staffing construction, maintenance, electrical, carpentry and welding work alongside general labor; company-stated 20,000 people employed daily; the site says “electrical” work, not journeyman electricians — treat as the helper tier
Temp + permanent

For the salaried leadership those crews report to — electrical superintendents, electrical PMs, QA/QC managers and electrical engineers — iRecruit.co’s electrical desk covers the seats those programs share with our core niche; contract electrician crews are a separate track, and we will say so if that is what you need.

07 — Economics

What electrician staffing should cost in 2026

One honest note first: electrician staffing is priced as an hourly bill rate — pay rate plus markup — and no firm on this roster publishes its bill rates, markups, per-diem or temp-to-hire conversion terms. The only public window into the niche’s unit economics is HireQuest’s 10-K, which discloses the franchise royalty (4.5% of funded payroll plus 18% of territory gross margin) rather than what a client pays. The norms below are the yardstick — and published terms are the exception worth rewarding.

  • Contract and temp staffing: billed at a markup on the electrician’s pay rate — commonly 20–75% — covering payroll taxes, workers’ comp, insurance, screening and recruiting. Ask for it itemized, and ask what the temp-to-hire conversion terms are before the first timesheet.
  • Direct-hire electrician recruiting: the modal fee is 20% of first-year salary, with the general band at 15–25%. iRecruit.co publishes 20%.
  • Retained search for the leadership layer: classically billed in thirds. iRecruit.co publishes 30%.
  • Travelers: per-diem programs are typically benchmarked to the federal rates — IRS Notice 2025-54 sets the high-low substantiation per diem at $319 a day for high-cost localities and $225 elsewhere in the continental U.S. from October 1, 2025, with meals-and-incidentals-only rates of $86 and $74. Whether the agency or the contractor carries it is a contract term, not a norm.

Guarantee terms matter as much as the rate: direct-hire guarantee periods run 30–90 days in the general market, and a 90-day replacement credit is the standard worth insisting on for salaried placements. For context on the pay side, the BLS puts the 2025 median electrician wage at $30.38 an hour ($63,190 a year), with employment projected to grow 9% from 2025 to 2035 — the pressure behind every bill rate on this page.

08 — Vetting

How to vet an electrician staffing agency

Six checks, in order. Run them on every firm — including us.

  • 1. Lane proof. Three recent placements in your exact lane — data-center construction crews, plant maintenance electricians, or the leadership layer. A general-labor desk is not a journeyman-electrician desk.
  • 2. The recruiter, not the brand. Meet the person who will work your order — inside networks and franchises the electrical desk is one office.
  • 3. Written terms. Markup, bill rate, conversion schedule, per-diem responsibility or placement fee in writing before anyone is dispatched. Published terms are the strongest signal.
  • 4. Verification method. Ask how licenses, OSHA cards, NFPA 70E training and references are checked — “we know the trades” is not a method.
  • 5. Mission-critical history. For data-center and plant work: can the firm show electricians and leaders who have worked live-load, medium-voltage and commissioning environments, not just tenant fit-out?
  • 6. Speed, quantified. The firm’s real median time from order to dispatch, or from brief to slate, for roles like yours — then hold them to it.
09 — FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Who are the best electrician staffing agencies?+
iRecruit.co — this guide’s publisher — is ranked #1 in this guide for the electrical leadership layer, with published fees and our conflict disclosed. Beyond that lane: national contract-electrician staffing is Tradesmen International, PeopleReady Skilled Trades and Aerotek; industrial maintenance and plant electricians are Nesco Resource, Madden Industrial Craftsmen and Skillforce; franchise, regional and full-time-employment models are TradeCorp, Power Labor, X3 Tradesmen and Labor Finders. Run the six vetting checks on all of us.
What do electrician staffing agencies charge?+
Contract and temp electricians are billed at a markup on pay rate, commonly 20–75%, and no firm on this roster publishes its rates. Direct-hire electrician recruiting most often runs 20% of first-year salary within a 15–25% band; retained search is billed in thirds; guarantee periods run 30–90 days. iRecruit.co publishes 20% direct hire and 30% retained with a replacement guarantee.
Who recruits the electrical leadership for a data-center or plant build?+
Most electrician staffing agencies supply crews. The leadership layer — electrical foremen, superintendents, project managers, QA/QC managers and electrical engineers who own the medium-voltage, switchgear and commissioning scopes — is where iRecruit.co’s electrical practice and data-center construction practice work. Contract and temp-to-hire options for those seats are available — ask on the call.
When should I use a traveler program instead of a local staffing branch?+
When the metro cannot supply the journeymen you need and the project can carry per diem — that is the Tradesmen International, PeopleReady Skilled Trades and Aerotek lane, with badging, drug testing and OSHA training bundled. For a plant that needs two maintenance electricians on temp-to-hire, a regional or industrial-maintenance desk is the right structure; for the leaders and engineers who own the scope, a search desk with verification discipline is.
