After a couple of mission-critical projects, that often moves toward $95,000–$110,000.[4][5] By mid-career, many land in the $95,000–$125,000 band.[4]
Schedulers tend to start a bit lower while they build depth in Primavera P6. Early-career schedulers often come in around $75,000–$90,000. Once they can build the schedule, keep it updated, and explain critical-path changes to leadership, pay often moves into the $85,000–$115,000 range.[4]

Estimators with a strong grasp of electrical distribution, cooling, and long-lead procurement risk are hard to find, and the pay shows it. Mid-level data center estimators usually fall in the $95,000–$135,000 base range. Senior preconstruction managers and chief estimators at large GC or EPC firms can reach $140,000–$175,000+.[3]

Commissioning professionals are seeing some of the strongest salary growth in the sector. Commissioning engineers usually earn a base of $118,000–$138,000, and total compensation often reaches $165,000+ after overtime, per diem, and bonuses are added.[2] CxA or CEM credentials, plus IST experience, can push pay to the top end of the range.

The hiring gap is still there. People from commercial GC teams often line up well for roles like project engineer, assistant project manager, scheduler, or MEP coordinator. Industrial candidates often fit estimating, project management, or project controls roles.
Commercial GC experience carries over well because the day-to-day work already includes submittals, RFIs, change orders, and field coordination. If you're a superintendent with hospital MEP experience, don't leave that buried in a bullet point. Spell out your work on MEP coordination, QA/QC inspections, and phased construction inside a live facility. That's the kind of detail that translates well to mission-critical work.
